Jordi Macià is currently leading Enterprise Architecture at Almirall, a Pharmaceutical company based in Barcelona. He is father of three children and bass player @tevamevamusic. He has a bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering and an associate degree in Telecommunications Engineering, both from La Salle URL university. He has played most of the roles in the IT industry: developer, systems & communications engineer, project and service manager, infrastructure and operations manager, solutions architect and enterprise architecture manager.
He has worked for several industries like banking, utilities, government, automobile and pharmaceuticals, delivering IT infrastructures and platform services. Almirall has a strong commitment to innovation, and adopting Agile and DevOps practices could help the company drive faster innovation. During the last two years Jordi has overseen the DevOps implementation on the web hosting environment on top of leading cloud service providers. Even if he is not a DevOps expert, his versatility provides him a deep understanding of the implications that adopting a DevOps transformation has on culture, technology, organization and processes.
Despite regulatory challenges, the pharma industry can hugely benefit from DevOps practices. Trying to understand how to automate compliance within the DevOps pipelines is key to take advantage of this already proven movement within the IT industry. This is something that Jordi will try to embed in the architectures he is working on at Almirall.
